The Company & Role

We're working with an established accountancy practice in Woking that's looking to recruit an experienced Accounts and Tax Manager to join its team.

This is a particularly good opportunity for someone who enjoys the client-facing side of accountancy and wants to be genuinely involved in helping businesses, rather than simply reviewing accounts and signing off compliance work.

Our client is looking for someone who's approachable, commercially minded and happy to roll their sleeves up when needed. You'll have plenty of direct client contact, alongside responsibility for managing a small team and overseeing the delivery of accounts and tax services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as their main point of contact
• Reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and other compliance work
• Providing proactive tax and business advisory services to owner-managed businesses
• Managing, mentoring and supporting a small team of accountants
• Attending client meetings, discussing financial performance and identifying opportunities to add value
• Working closely with partners on more complex accounting and tax matters
• Remaining hands-on with technical work where required

About You

We're looking for someone with strong experience within a UK accountancy practice, ideally ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience (QBE).

You'll need to be confident reviewing accounts and tax work, managing staff and, importantly, building and maintaining excellent client relationships.

We're particularly interested in people who enjoy getting involved, solving problems and providing practical advice to clients.
